President’s Message
Spring 2025 has been full of many wonderful Culver City civic events in which the Society has had the pleasure to participate.
These events include:
- The C.C. Book Festival hosted by the Wende Museum and the Village Well Books and Coffee.
- C. Biz hosted by Rafia and Jeff Cooper.
- CCHS Program event with Chris Bungo.
- CCHS Author Series with Brynn Shiovitz.
- C. Car Show hosted by the Culver City Exchange Club.
We have enjoyed our involvement in all these events, and they have increased our outreach and raised our profile in the community. Many people stopped by our booth to say hello and learn about the history of Culver City. We were happy to see that many of our visitors were younger people and new residents of our City. They showed an eagerness and enthusiasm to learn about their hometown and about its founder, Harry Culver. They also learned about the local film, T.V., and entertainment industry. It was a pleasure to talk to them and share our goals and the programs we offer. We also invited everyone to visit our museum.
I want to say, “Great job” to the CCHS Board members, society volunteers, and interns for helping with these events. They have done a wonderful job representing Culver City Historical Society.
We have some exciting events coming up this summer. The first one is our program on July 22nd at 7:00PM. It’s entitled “Robert Welch: The Wizard of Oz”. We will also participate in the City sponsored Movie in the Park event. The movie “Wicked” will be shown at Veterans’ Park in the evening of July 26th.
I’m excited to announce that beginning in September, our museum will be open on the 1st through the 4th Sundays of each month from 12:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M. Please stop in for a visit and bring your family and friends !
Finally, a “Shout out” to all our members! Without you we would not be able to operate and provide services and resources to our community and city – the one and only Culver City !!
