On April 19 th , 1951 – Mayor J. Ray Klots officiated and installed Red Skelton, MGM Star, as
Honorary Mayor of Culver City, at the new Veteran’s Memorial Building.
The Honorary Mayor was sworn in by City Clerk Merle Payton. Skelton’s humorous contribution to the entertainment program kept the guests in gales of laughter for more than a half an hour.
