Michael Curtiz by Alan K. Rode

In October while attending the “Lone Pine Film Festival”, the President, Hope Parrish, met writer, historian, actor and producer Alan K. Rode. Alan is an expert commentator, frequently on TCM, documentaries, and has written many books about Hollywood.

If you’re a fan like Hope of the Academy Award winning director and Hungarian immigrant Michael Curtiz, this book is the greatest in depth look into Curtiz’s life. During Michael Curtiz’s 27 year career at Warner Brothers, he directed swashbuckler adventures, westerns, musicals, dramas, comedies, and directed over 180 films.

A few notables such as “Casablanca”, “Yankee Doodle Dandy”, “Mildred Pierce” and a favorite of mine “White Christmas”.

Maybe we can get him to present a program!!
