It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of MGM Child Actor, Cora Sue Collins.
Cora Sue Collins was born in Beckley, West Virginia on April 19, 1927. Propelled into show business by her mother, Cora became heavily in demand during the 1930’s. One of Cora’s many talents were that she could cry on demand. Cora appeared in over 50 films from 1932 – 1945.
Cora Sue performed in her first film, The strange Case of Clara Deane, at the age of five. Continuing to act in films, here’s a few you may recall, Treasure Island, The Scarlett Letter, Anna Karenina, Magnificent Obsession & The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, starring Tom Kelly who would later become a Culver City Teacher, which many still remember.
Thank you to our friends at the Hollywood Heritage Museum, we had the great pleasure to meet and have Cora Sue join us for our MGM program last year. Cora Sue is seated with our amazing June Caldwell. I liked to refer to as our Metro Goldwyn Mayer’s – Golden Girls!!
