Spring 2009 Message

by Stu Freeman

To all of you who came to our Winter General Meeting on January 21st at the Vets Auditorium, thank you for coming and thank you for participating in the crowd-pleasing “Parrish Family” presentation. Sharing the many wonderful stories of one of our long-time Culver City families and their work as Property Masters at MGM and other studios made for a truly informative and fun evening. One of our best!

I would like to personally invite you and your friends to come to our Spring General Meeting on Wednesday, April 15th to hear railroad historian Ralph Cantos give a presentation on the Pacific Electric Red Car Line. Ralph is very knowledgeable and welcomes your questions and your memories. It should be a great evening.

This year marks the 70th Anniversary of two of the most popular movies of all time – both made here in Culver City – The Wizard of Oz and Gone With the Wind. Be sure to drop by regularly to see our displays of memorabilia from these two great classics along with many of our other film artifacts in our ever-growing archives.

Come see and learn that old memories are new again at your Culver City Historical Society Archives & Resource Center (ARC).
